Brand values & Emerald Orchid Weddings

Every business, no matter its industry or focus, has values that are at the core of what they do. Here at Emerald Orchid Weddings, it’s no different. So I thought I’d share my own values, which I hope come across in everything that I do, both online & in real life.

I have been in the wedding industry as a wedding planner for over a decade, but on looking back I'd say that my values have always been the same for my business. They're as important now as they have ever been.

These are in no particular order, each one is as important as the others.

Value number 1: Integrity

To me, integrity is doing the right thing, even when no one is looking. It’s doing business (well, life in general!) in line with the values & beliefs at the core of your business. I have to be certain that I am doing the right thing in every situation, even if there’s no one watching who’ll give me credit. I know in my heart that everything I do is in your best interest, & I trust this comes across when we work together, when you see me online, when you receive written quotes from me, & in every other way I communicate with you.

Value number 2: Inclusivity

I shouldn’t have to point this out, but I’m going to anyway! Be under no illusion, if you want to get married & you want my support, I WILL work with you. I don’t care your age, race, sexuality, the way your brain is wired… I have your back & together we’ll create a day that’s as fabulous as you are. I’m careful to use gender-neutral wording (& if you see me slipping, please do remind me!) Wedding party not “bridal party”. Couple, rather than “bride & groom”, etc.

Value number 3: Kindness

In a world where you can be anything, be kind. That’s something that I live by, & that I expect from anyone that I work with. It’s not difficult, to treat others how I’d like to be treated. Everyone gets stressed planning a wedding, but that doesn’t mean we should be arseholes to people. Sure, tempers can fray but a quick apology afterwards goes a LOOOONG way! Would you agree?

Value number 4: Determination

This is possibly a strange value to have but hear me out. I am determined to do my best in every job that I do. I am determined to not stop until I have the answers that you need. I am determined that my chronic illnesses will NOT stop me from creating an exceptional wedding day for you, because you deserve the best experience. I am determined that you will be cool, calm & collected during the wedding planning process.

Value number 5: Generosity - with time & knowledge

I have been in the wedding industry for a long time, & I have worked with HUNDREDS of people - both suppliers & couples. Everything that I’ve learned (& continue to learn) is put into my work and I am very generous with my knowledge! I love being able to show people the most effective way to do things, how to create an exceptional wedding day, helping suppliers in their own businesses…. Some might say I give away too much of my time, but to me, it’s what makes our industry so beautiful - sharing our knowledge & time to create wonderful wedding days.

So, these are the 5 core values that my business is built on. Do any of these surprise you? Perhaps you recognise them because they come through in everything I do. What are YOUR core values, that run through everything that you do - let me know below if you share any of these values yourself. Bxx
